Calders Green Shoots

Calders garden was established in 2014, with the support of Wester Hailes Growing Communities. There are over 60 growing plots in the garden, managed both communally and by local households.

The group meet regularly on Saturdays and hold the occasional community event. They’ve also opened up the garden for several educational opportunities, including for Clovie Primary School kids to learn about seasonal changes, Edinburgh College students working towards their John Muir Award, and 1st year Architecture and Design students at Edinburgh University – who studied the area and presented their ideas to the local community.

Fun Fact: The site houses a decade old forest garden surrounding the site, which is often used to run tree pruning workshops.

There are plots available for people to take on, so if you’re local and interested please get in touch!
