#100Planters
#100Planters was a 2021 project by Leith Community Growers and the Edinburgh Tool Library and was supported by Edible Estates CIC. We worked with local residents and organisations to build, make, fill, and plant 100 planters in Leith to create 100 gardens, wildlife habitats, food growing spaces and gardens in and around our local community.
The project was led by local people and inspired by the growers and gardeners who live near us in Leith. We believe everybody should have access to the resources needed to grow food for their families and community if they choose to and we aim to support and enable community-based projects to make locally grown produce available to all.
In Leith we live in one of the most densely populated areas in Edinburgh and the UK* and growing spaces, gardens and places for our community to grow food, herbs or vegetables can be very hard to come by. #100Planters is a community led project to challenge that by building and distributing 100 planters across our community. Perfect for front steps, small spaces and shared back greens we are going to make accessible, manageable green space available to as many people as possible in Leith.
We teamed up with Edinburgh Tool Library so that people couldd learn how to build planters as well as plant them.

We would like to give planters away but also want to support people to make planters with us or at home. You may be part of a community garden or local organisation that would like one or more planters, please give us as many details as you can and we will do our best to work with you to create these planters with you.
Thanks for your interest in this project!
