The plots were developed by City of Edinburgh Council for the residents of Hawkhill & Nisbet Courts. There are 12 plots, currently all in use. Plot holders use the spaces to grow vegetables, fruit, herbs and flowers. They have also constructed greenhouses to grow tender crops.

There is a central area with benches, whereby the community can get together and socialise.
